When reviewing a medication order, our Nurses will ensure components stated below are included in the prescription before administering the medication. If a pertinent piece of information is not included, the nurse will contact the prescribing provider to clarify and correct the order.

- Drug name
- Dose, frequency, and route
- Name/Signature of the prescriber
- Weight of the patient to facilitate dose calculation when applicable. (Note that dose calculations are based on metric weight: kilograms for children/adults or grams for newborns)

- Perform an independent verification of the original chemotherapy order with a second chemotherapy-certified RN.

- Recalculate chemotherapy doses independently for accuracy
- Verify appropriate premedication and pre-hydration orders

- Responding to abnormal vital signs is one of the most important levers in patient safety, by providing timely recognition of early clinical deterioration. Our Nurses will ensure patient safety through diligent nursing surveillance, involving assessment, interpretation of data, recognition of a problem and meaningful response
- Our nurses will use the wound vac machine according to a physician order only and will monitor the function and patency of the wound vac and tubing plus responds to any alarms for leaks and interruptions in suction.
- Our Nurses provides tracheostomy care for clients with new or recent tracheostomy to maintain patency of the tube and minimize the risk for infection by ensuring regular suctioning and cleaning as often as every 1 to 2 hours.
- Our Nurses are mostly knowledgeable about the function and limitations of ventilator modes, causes of respiratory distress and desynchrony with the ventilator, and appropriate management in order to provide high-quality patient-centered care
- Our Nurses plays a critical role of independently administering the nutrition and ensure the process of tube feeding is delivered accurately. They observe and notice when a patient is not tolerating tube feeding or when the patient is tolerating feeding and their feeding should be advanced to increase nutrition
